Last night we went to the inauguration of:
a bicycle concept store in paris
[9 rue pierre dupont)
nice shop, great space, good music, drinks, friends... it was the opening party.
plenty of bmx, trial bikes, mountain bikes, ... but no fixed, track bikes, ...
after watching the mashsf dvd, maybe they'll consider bringing some fixie goodies since riding fixed is becoming quite trendy in paris just like everywhere else...
there was a flatland bmx demo going on
the guys from cream mag were there...
and some kids riding unicycles!
after the party we went for a ride... vendredi soir roulez

i did some work on my bike today...
i'd been using 32c tyres for a while but i wanted to try my bontrager 23c's ... we'll see how they work on the pave.
and i changed my 90mm salsa (upside down) stem for my 100mm nitto (a little bit more rise).
now i need to fix my mavic cosmos wheel... but in the meantime i'm using the front wheel off my touring bike (mavic 501 on 36 open pro)...
this is how my wheel was after the accident...
... broken spoke...
annie saw what happened:
"the accident happened so quickly, and it was all so surreal.
i must have just ridden past you or looked back to say something to you,
when it looked like you got your tire wedged between the cobble stones
and just flipped over 180 degrees; bike flying over you, but still attached..."
and my helmet was in my bag... i'm lucky.

i went to juan's to pick up my bike today... luckily i had a spare wheel... my front wheel had a broken spoke... i wonder if that's why i crashed that night... it feels so good to be back on my bike... my shoulder still hurts a little bit but i'm happy... and ready to get a job soon...

i'll miss sophie
and i'll miss my bike.
i'm going home (home as in my mum and dad's)
two weeks in cadiz
and my mum's food
but what am i going to do?
2 weeks without my bike...
i guess i can ride my dad's bike,
and i'll be studying french
so that when i come back home (paris)
i'll be ready to get a job

my helmet was in my bag. i woke up when they were getting me into the ambulance. i'm lucky, i guess. my face looks like someone punched me and my shoulder hurts but i'm ok.
juan took my bike (with the front wheel fucked up) with him. jonathan and delphina came to the hospital and waited with me until they let me out at 5am. thank you guys.
so i missed the end of the night, but looking at my photos now... it was a great night.
we met up at 19:00 at porte maillot. lots of people showed up. local couriers from urban cycle, velocite paris, and novea, also tom (who runs tour de ville) vincent (haute-courier) and joss the boss (who works in london) from eindhoven, ... anny and rebecca (who i met at the velorution ride that morning) from the states, ...
tom, vincent and me wanted to enjoy the sights of paris la nuit. luckily, the 3rd checkpoint was in a bar so we stopped for a beer with axle and after a few amstel's we decided we weren't going to win the alleycat. so we never made it to the second manifest... but we found out where the finish line was and we got there eventually.
gab, yves and miguel (in that order apparently) won the race, joss was the first out of town, rebecca the first girl, pat the best dispatch, juan also won something, and so did some more people i can't remeber now... jboule did a great job organizing the whole event. merci beaucoup monsieur. a la prochaine (decembre 8).
